PARKERSBURG -- Last month's death of a former Miss West Virginia USA was an accident, Police Chief Gerald Board said Wednesday. The state medical examiner's office determined that Vickie Myers, 39, died of positional asphyxiation. Board said the 39-year-old former beauty queen may have fallen out of bed and into a position in which she couldn't breathe. "There was no crime. There was no foul play,'' Board said. Myers' father, Parkersburg City Councilman James Myers, found his daughter's body at her home on Jan. 28. She was an art teacher at Parkersburg High School and was crowned Miss West Virginia USA in 1992. |
