Sheila Klein, 2006 Ms. Civic American Renaissance, is coming soon to an episode of the PageantCast

Sheila Klein, a Texas native and volunteer enthusiast, is honored to wear the 2006 Ms. Civic American Renaissance crown. The title is a perfect fit for her platform, “Be a Dear and Volunteer.” She works tirelessly in her community and encourages people of all ages, ethnicities, and educational levels to extend their hearts and their hands to the less fortunate.

Sheila is an active member of the Electronic Data Systems (EDS) Volunteer Council. She has served as the Non-profit Liaison and the Vice Chair of the Council. EDS is recognized in the Dallas Metroplex as a leader in civic responsibility and a company who cares. Sheila has been employed by EDS for 22 years.

To stay physically fit, she auditioned and won a spot on the Dallas Tap Dazzlers performance team. The Dallas Tap Dazzlers, organized in 1990, is an exciting group of jazz-tap dancers who lead the field with fast-paced routines and colorful, quickly-changed costumes. Nursing homes, Veteran’s hospitals, parades, and community centers are the focus of the Dazzlers. This exciting ensemble performs around 100 times yearly, entertaining groups of all ages. The Dallas Tap Dazzlers are a 501(c)(3) - non-profit, publicly-supported organization.

Sheila is an active member of the Highland Village Women’s Club. During the past five years she has held the offices of Outreach Coordinator and Publicity Chair. The HVWC raises money in the community in support of scholarship funds, Police and Fire Department needs, families in crisis, etc.
The innovator of several annual volunteer endeavors, Sheila stays busy collecting diapers for her BOTTOM BUDDIES program. BB supplies diapers, pull ups and underwear for children in the custody of Child Protective Services. Her Sock It to a Senior program provides tube socks and toiletries as Christmas gifts to senior citizens who are served by the Meals on Wheels program. Her annual Backpack and School Supply drive helps underprivileged families give their children a fresh start every school year. She is currently collecting NEW stuffed animals for local children’s hospitals.
In her spare time she enjoys the performing arts and occasionally joining the cast of the local community theater. She also is learning how to quilt and has just completed her first, “work of art.” Scrapbooking is also a current interest.
Sheila is married to Michael and they recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on a cruise to the western Caribbean.

They have two grown children, Devon Bleu, a Deputy Sheriff for Denton County, and Triston Trace, a Financial Analyst.
Since her boys left home, she is now mothering her two Great Danes, Thunder and Sable.

Her favorite saying is, “Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, ‘I will try again tomorrow’”.
