Miss America Beauties Prep for Pageant
The 52 gorgeous contestants for this year's Miss America pageant are getting ready for their week long return to Vegas. The beauties will be checking in to the Aladdin-Planet Hollywood for preliminary events that all culminate in one final night of competition on Monday January 29.
Luxe Life got a preview look at some of the lovely ladies when they arrived at the hotel for promotional photo shoots. I got to meet 22-year-old Caydi Cole, Miss Nevada (seen below) who is studying public relations and advertising at our UNLV. Her ambition is obtain a Masters Degree in marketing and she's already been a US State Dept student ambassador to Russia. She told me that she will be singing in the talent section of the pageant.
It's a grand celebrity lineup of judges who will also be checking into the Planet Hollywood: actresses Delta Burke and Debbie Allen who is also a successful director and choreographer; singer pianist Michael Feinstein, MSNBC's TV Hardball host, Chris Matthews, America's Next Top Model judge, Nigel Barker and former Miss America (1981) Susan Powell, who hosts Home Matters on the Discovery Channel.
Once the girls arrive in town Luxe Life will chronicle their daily adventures and the preliminaries leading right up to the BIG NIGHT, with exclusive reports and Scott Doctor photos! Hotel president Mike Mecca commented: "We are delighted that the Miss America pageant is returning for a 2nd year. Vegas embraced this event last year for the 1st time and it is only fitting that it is returning to Vegas and Planet Hollywood. Our theater -- the most beautiful in town -- has just been completely renovated, so it's the perfect showroom for the national CMT telecast."
The Vegas telecast a year ago was the most-watched in CMT's history with over 22-million viewers, and it was the first time in its 85-year-history that it took place outside of Atlantic City. Jennifer Berry from Oklahoma was crowned winner and she'll be back in Vegas in two weeks time as show preparations begin. Miss America's education and scholarship based pageant is not to be confused with Donald Trump's Miss USA pageant which is currently being rocked by scandals involving former Miss Nevada Katie Rees who has been stripped of her crown -- for stripping her clothes!
