Miss World, a competition founded by Eric Morley, the man responsible for the entertainment chain Mecca, is established as one of the most watched annual events on television - at its peak the show drew a staggering audience of 27.5million in Britain alone!
The claws will be out in force in Warsaw, Poland on September 30 when the 56th Miss World extravaganza takes place, as 104 fine female specimens are put through their paces, all bidding to carry away the coveted crown.
It has to be said that, regardless of how hard a day the bookies' male odds compilers have had, I very much doubt that there would be complaints from those appointed to price this event up. At the time of writing, Blue Square and Sporting Odds are the firms to have formed a market on this event.
