Amid life of glamour, home suits her fine

Miss Teen USA makes Montana swing to see friends and family before embarking on her reign

Since her victory as Miss Teen USA in mid-August, Katie Blair has appeared at a celebrity kickoff party for the U.S. Open tennis tournament and other "red carpet" events. But the event the Billings teen eagerly anticipates this week is visiting West High to see friends and her favorite teachers.

"They are the people who knew me before I won. They know Katie Blair, not Miss Teen USA," she said.

Blair, an 18-year-old who graduated from West this spring, returned to Billings before Labor Day to see family and friends. On Sunday, she crowned another Billings girl, Chelsea Nelson, as the new Miss Montana Teen USA during the state pageant in Missoula.
