BRISTOL - Young women who dream of becoming the next Miss America took their first steps down that road Sunday at a tea held at the home of the current Miss Bristol, Brianna Carello.
"The Miss Bristol pageant is a closed pageant; it's only open to people who live, work or go to school in the greater Bristol area," Pelletier said. "Miss Forestville is an open pageant; anybody from anywhere in Connecticut can join."
Hosting the tea for new applicants is one of the duties expected of the reigning Miss Bristol. Carello explained the process a contestant can expect to go through.
"The Miss Bristol pageant is a preliminary to the Miss Connecticut pageant, and the winner of that goes on to compete in Miss America ... this [tea] is to get everyone started, with their paperwork and everything," Carello said.
