Because of a lack of interest from local teenage girls and a lack of time to prepare, organizers of the pageant are scrapping plans for this year and looking to 2007.
"I guess they couldn't get everything together to meet all of the deadlines," said Betty Keepin, an Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Chamber member handling the publicity for the event.
This year's pageant, organized by the chamber, the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Jaycees and the Alliance of Professional Women, was announced only last month after a year's hiatus.
