Penn State Student Wins Miss Pennsylvania

(KDKA/AP) NAZARETH A Penn State student from Beaver won the 2006 Miss Pennsylvania pageant on Saturday night.

Emily Wills, 23, last year's runner-up, will represent the Keystone State in the Miss America competition. She said it was a strange feeling to be among the top two contestants again.

"I was thinking to myself, 'Here we go again. It's completely out of my hands,"' Wills said.

Wills, who entered the contest as Miss Armstrong County, has as her platform "Fostering America's Promise: Every Child Matters."

She succeeds last year's winner, Nicole Marie Brewer.

"I would love to follow in Nicole's footsteps, both as a great Miss Pennsylvania and as a top 10 Miss America contestant," Wills said.

The only Miss Pennsylvania to have won the national contest was Evelyn Ay, Miss America 1954.
