Jacquelynne and Victor Fontaine
Jacquelynne Fontaine, 23, won the 2006 Miss California title in Fresno on July 1. Beautiful on the outside, Fontaine is also talented, knowledgeable and spiritual on the inside.

She is the daughter of Victor and Donna Fontaine of Moorpark and has one older sister, Vanessa. The Moorpark family worked together to help Fontaine succeed at the Miss California competition.

While Fontaine was away at the contest, her 72-year-old father suffered a mild stroke. The family didn't mention the incident to her until the contest was over because they wanted to make sure she was concentrating on the pageant.

"If you've helped young candidates prepare, you understand how focused and calm they need to be," said Fontaine's mother, talent coordinator for the Miss Moorpark and Miss Great Ventura County competitions.

While Fontaine was participating in the local pageants, her mother temporarily stepped down from her committee position.

"There is no room for any judge to pick a favorite," Fontaine said.
