She's the youngest contestant ever to wear the crown of Miss Oklahoma but 19 year-old Lauren Nelson is no newcomer, she's been competing in the Miss America system since her sophomore year in high school.

Nelson won the title of Miss Teen Oklahoma in 2004 and was one of three state representatives chosen to perform at the Miss America Pageant. At a press conference today she discussed the platform she'll highlight throughout her year as Miss Oklahoma.

Lauren Nelson Miss Oklahoma 2006: "Seeing these children and the access they have to the internet and seeing how it can impact their lives, and seeing the dangers that they can come in contact with, it made me think this is an issue I wanted to be a part of."

Nelson competed with 43 other qualified young women at the pageant but she alone walked away with the title, $16,000 cash scholarship and the chance to unseat reigning Miss America, Jennifer Berry also of Oklahoma.
