(PRWEB) June 1, 2006 -- America's Hot Musician, the new American Idol-like show for musicians, set to debut January 8, 2007 on Comcast, signed two of its three judges this week. Former beauty queen Kari Heisler, a seasoned music teacher and advocate in Minnesota and Gregory Charles Royal, a trombonist from the Grammy Award Winning Duke Ellington Orchestra will be the "Paula Abdul" and "Randy Jackson" of the show. The show announced in May that it is also in talks with Rock and Roll Legend Little Richard to fill out the third spot.

Heisler, the 2001-2002 Miss Minnesota , is a cum laude graduate and a bona fide choral and instrumental music educator. She is currently a director at Hudson High School in Wisconsin and an advocate of music awareness, having promoted her platform "Music Makes a Difference" in the Miss Minnesota and Miss America Pageants.

Royal, who is also the creative producer of the show, was in the original Broadway company of Five Guys Named Moe and played in the horn sections of many top artists including Gladys Knight, The Temptations and The Four Tops in addition to a decade of touring with the Ellington Orchestra. Royal is also the author of the first stage play to feature an entire cast of jazz musicians entitled It's a Hardbop Life which debuted at the 2004 New York JVC Jazz Festival (www.hardboplife.com).

"Kari and Greg fit in perfectly with our mission, to produce a fun entertaining program while raising the consciousness about instrumental music," says Susan Veres, Executive Director of American Youth Symphony, a nonprofit organization who is producing the show.

America's Hot Musician is trying to tap into the psyche of the MTV/Hip Hop Generation to interest them in instrumental performance by showcasing musicians who not only possess musical ability, but who demonstrate a marketable presence that can lure young audiences.

The competition will be held in Los Angeles,CA; Austin,TX; Minneapolis,MN; Columbus, OH; and Washington, DC beginning in September 2006
