Miss Texas International at the TEXO Chili Cook Off

They had their 1st (of many) Chili Cook Off at the regional TEXO office. Each company brought can food that was donated to the North Texas Food Bank (6 HUGE boxes were dontated in all). I chose 15 chili judges from the crowd and presented the awards to the top 3 companies for the best chili. Charter Builders won the best chili and the people's choice for best booth theme.

And it doesn't just stop there-Disney, Hollywood, red carpet events, rodeo drive, Mickey, yummy thansgiving dinner, spending time wit your family and getting to know other girls from all across the country....phew!! Anyways-I could go on and on and on with all the exciting things that are bound to happen at this years nationals( not to mention that 12 new national queens will be crowned...will you be one of them???).

Carrie Prejean will limit appearances, publicist says

clipped from www.examiner.com Former Miss California USA Carrie Prejean will limit comments and public appearances, her book publisher’s publicist said this morning. “Due to the confidentiality agreement which Carrie signed, she must decline to comment on any and all questions regarding a so-called ‘sex tape,’” Kathleen Sweetapple, publicity director for Regnery Publishing, wrote in an email. “Her legal counsel has now advised her to severely limit all her public statements and appearances, adding that these matters need to be handled in a court of law and not the court of public opinion.” On July 21, the publisher’s publicist had offered to set up an interview with Prejean after her book, Still Standing, was published. We followed up on the offer on Nov. 13, making no reference to the “sex tape,” asking if is "still possible to schedule a 10-15 minute interview" with Prejean. As of this morning, Still Standing was listed at No. 556 among books sold on Amazon.com.

The relief was tremendous.  Finally, it was OK to open that box of treasured “what ifs” I had secretly been stashing for more years than I can remember.  Unfortunately, the box full of thoughts was tucked away for more practical and suitably acceptable pursuits.  By the time I was thirty-six I was a registered lobbyist convincing elected officials to pass bills addressing transportation funding, anti-stalking legislation, and impaired driving.  In my world I interfaced with power brokers and politicians.  My wardrobe consisted of suits in shades of navy blue and black.  My hair color was carefully maintained at the “smart blonde” tint least a tad lighter take me to a different level of credibility.

Shanna Moakler Returns to Miss USA

Moakler, Miss USA 1995, resigned as Miss USA Organization co-director in May after a scandal involving ex-Miss California Carrie Prejean spiraled out of control. Now, she's back on board. She made the announcement on Tuesday, Nov. 10 on "The Wendy Williams Show". A self-proclaimed believer in pageants, Moakler told Williams, "I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for pageants. And the reason I got involved is because I wanted to give back to girls, and I really believe that girls that are involved in pageants are ambitious, driven women who are trying to set themselves apart from the pack." Moakler is an actress and model and the former wife of rocker Travis Barker, who posed nude for Playboy magazine - but not until six years after she was Miss USA. The December 2001 Playmate of the Month said in her Playboy bio that her turnoffs include, "People who lie, cheat and are dishonest."

Although it was the Miss California USA organization that paid for her breast implants, Prejean says in her book, “Still Standing,” that the decision to have surgery was not hers. At the time, she admitted she had thought about getting surgery but was not yet determined the pain was worth it. Because of this, she expressed her “reservations” to the pageant officials, but they were not taken into account when they drew the line. Lewis, on the other hand, has recently said that the pageant neither encouraged nor made a habit of paying for implants, and that hers was an isolated case they decided to make an exception of.

She walked with the Longs Drugs Team for the First Ladies Walk For Life on October 3rd. She has also raised over $1500 for the Lay Me Down To Sleep Foundation. Riley is now preparing for the biannual “Nutcracker Fantasy”, a fundraiser for the local children’s shelter where she is a featured soloist and principal cast member. She has been enjoying long weekend rehearsals with her dance friends for a great cause!
