Rush Limbaugh, The Feminist, Defends Miss America Pageant

clipped from www.mediaite.com

Hats off to Rush Limbaugh, leading the 21st Century feminist charge in his roll as a judge for this year’s Miss America pageant. It was hard work! Says Rush:

Folks, this is a big time serious thing, There’s no frivolity at all. It’s very serious. And these women have devoted their lives, in most cases, to this week.

“Oh, I’m a huge supporter of women. What I’m not a supporter of is liberalism. Feminism is what I oppose, and feminism has led women astray. I love women. I don’t know where all this got started…I love the women’s movement — especially when walking behind it. This idea that I don’t like women is absurd. This is Miss America. And if there’s a Mr. America out there, it’s me.”

Limbaugh: Miss America Contestants Know More About Politics Than Elected Officials

clipped from newsbusters.org
Conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh believes that many of the Miss America contestants he met last week know more about politics than elected officials he's spoken to.

"I've really been impressed with all of them," Limbaugh told Fox News's Gretchen Carlson in a segment that aired on "Fox & Friends" Tuesday.

Yet, what has really caught the attention of some in the media was Limbaugh's comment, "I love the women's movement -- especially when walking behind it" (video embedded below the fold with transcript, h/t the Right Scoop):

How Many Calories Should I Consume When Training for Swimsuit

miss america swimsuit photos, miss america swimsuit, swimsuit photos, miss america

On a daily basis as I work with girls training for a swimsuit competition I am asked, “How many calories should I consume?” The answer to this question varies on a number of factors.  One’s age, gender, weight, height, fitness goal, and activity level all play a role in determining one’s calorie requirements.  Several of these factors contribute to one’s BMR or Basal Metabolic Rate.  Your BMR (which is basically how many kcal you burn a day to maintain your vital functions and is determined by age, gender, weight, height) and your activity level allow us to determine how many calories you need to maintain your current weight.

NAM - National American Miss Blog

clipped from www.namissblog.com

I pulled a few fun pics from some of our NAM girls facebook pages. Check out the great picture of Katie Stam, last years Miss America, right after she was proposed to by her boyfriend! That's pretty cool! Great job to your Miss California, Taylor Longbrake, for hustling over to get a picture in the moment. (it's NAM paparazzi!)
There's a fun picture with three of your reigning Miss CA girls, Crystal Navarrete, Danielle Walker and Taylor Longbrake plus the big picture on the bottom is NAM Miss Indiana, Katie Marak. I just thought it was such an awesome photo of Katie Marak that I had to post it over here!

"Maddie Lou Who" Turns Two

It was a giant day for a little girl.  With every wake-up a new beginning and life an adventure, turning two is not something our granddaughter really thought about.  But on Maddie's special day, family from across Oregon came to celebrate our littlest member's big day in lady bug style.

Miss America Week

I recently returned from Miss America week in Las Vegas! I had a fabulous time as America's 20s with my mom attending Miss America preliminaries, finals, the Miss America trade show, and The Phantom of the Opera (1st row!). At the Miss America trade show I got to meet some wonderful designers, try on gowns and I even found a pink crown ring which reminded me of BOA so I had to buy it! I also enjoyed the Vegas cuisine as I am a huge foodie. Best of all, I got to watch Miss America be crowned alongside my beautiful sister queen Jessica Cassidy, America's 30s. We had fun watching the pageant, taking photos, and eating some amazing and some not so amazing food! We had mixed reviews but the gelato was superb ;) It was certainly a week to remember. Here is a sampling of the dozens of photos taken!

Date Night with the AFFI Honor Guard

Picture
Picture
This past weekend was the 16th annual Association of Fire Fighters of Illinois Honor Guard conference, of which Ron attended Saturday and Sunday. Saturday night was the induction ceremony and dinner....bagpipes, new and established Honor Guard members, great food and.......400 HOT Firefighters!! Need I even go on? We were invited to sit with the HG members from Highland Park Fire Dept. so gracious and kind and they had beautiful wives! I really felt so honored to be a part of the pageantry and am equally proud of Ron for the way he serves our community as well as our country. Ron actually brought the Honor Guard to his fire department 10 years ago and they inducted a new member this past weekend.

This was the first time that most of the local titleholders have met, it's nice that we can prior to the competition. Lisa, our reigning Mrs California, was also there to have a good time. We all danced. mingled and watched a great fashion show while listening to Jesse James sing. We also met Cyrus Frakes, the man behind TLC's King of the Crown! After a bunch of pictures and dancing and hanging out we headed home.

Miss Virginia Claims 2010 Miss America Title

clipped from www.foxnews.com

Miss Virginia Caressa Cameron won the 2010 Miss America title Saturday night after strutting in a yellow dress, belting Beyonce's "Listen" from "Dreamgirls" and telling kids they should get outside more often.

Cameron, 22, won a $50,000 scholarship and the crown in Las Vegas after a pageant that started with 53 contestants. She outlasted her opponents in swimsuit, evening gown, talent and interview competitions.

Cameron is broadcast journalism student at Virginia Commonwealth University, and wants to become a news anchor.

When asked during the interview portion of the competition her thoughts on fighting childhood obesity, Cameron said parents should curb television and video games.
