Miss California Seeking Damages

clipped from www.samesame.com.au

Former Miss California Carrie Prejean is sueing the organisers of the pageant because she believes she was wrongfully dismissed for defending traditional notions of marriage.

In June this year Prejean was stripped of her title over an “unwillingness to make appearances on behalf of the Miss California USA organisation”. A spokesperson for Miss California pageant said that “it [had] become abundantly clear that Carrie [was] unwilling to fulfill her obligations under our contract and work together.”

However Prejean’s attorney Charles LiMandri told Reuters that the decision to fire her wasn’t about contractual arrangements at all.

Miss California came first runner up. On a video blog on his website Perez later said, “She lost not because she doesn’t believe in gay marriage, she lost because she’s a dumb bitch!”

PSA Filming To Begin!

I am so excited to share that on September 12 - I will be filming a portion of the new Public Service Announcement for the Mid-Atlantic Blood Services Region (Red Cross). This PSA will be used in several capacities - not only to encourage and empower others to donate, but to also thank those that have so willingly donated to save the lives of others.

Typically, donors do not have the opportunity to see the impact that they make. This video will provide the chance to see the lives that they touch, but to also connect with the purpose. It is through love and time that they give and with this PSA, we can finally say thank you for the donations.

When the PSA/Video become available, I will be sure to post it here!

Fox Box - August 21, 2009

On August 21, I had the opportunity to appear on Fox 31's "Fox Box". Fox Box is a segment of "Good Day Colorado" that invites special guests to discuss events currently making the news. The host of the show, Shaul Turner, along with Terrence Roberts (CEO, Prodigal Son Initiative), Ian Bagg (Actor/Comedian) and I all chatted about hot topics such as the debate on healthcare, whether or not our society is accepting of same sex relationships in politics, Michelle Obama's casual attire on family outtings, and the lady who believed to be pregnant with 12 babies. It was a great panel, with each of us bringing up strong points about the issues. I hope to be a return guest on Fox Box in the future, it was a lot of fun!

Fifty-One Beauties

We got ready for our first event of the week, the delegate orientation. Yes, we are called delegates, not contestants... after all we all ARE already queens for our respective states. I enjoyed hearing from the 50 other women and how may years they've been married and how many kids they have.
The dinner that was served was really good, too. The dessert hit the spot! Yes, beauty queens do eat food, and even dessert!

Is The Fix In On Miss Universe?

clipped from www.defamer.com.au

Information obtained by the Guanabee blog, in an exclusive interview with Michael Schwandt, choreographer of this year’s pageant, suggests that far from a purely scientific study of the looks, talents and poise of each contestant, one man’s preferences may be guiding the outcome of the race.

Then he does do something that’s a bit odd. At all the shows, he pops in the day before the telecast and we line up all the girls in alphabetical order behind microphones. And they say their name, age and country. Then we line them up in alphabetical order in one single file line across the stage. And he basically walks by and has an assistant that takes notes on all the girls. And it’s just kind of common knowledge that he picks six of the top fifteen single-handedly. So, the other nine of the top fifteen are judged in a preliminary show the week before and picked by those judges, but he picks six of the top fifteen.

Carrie Prejean sues California pageant officials – pictures, videos

clipped from www.examiner.com
Former Miss California Carrie Prejean is suing several pageant officials for “libel, slander and religious discrimination, accusing them of telling her to stop mentioning God even before her controversial remarks against gay marriage,” the Associated Press reports.
Targets of the suit, according to AP, are Miss California USA executive director Keith Lewis, former Miss California USA co-director Shanna Moakler and Miss California USA publicist Roger Neal.
The suit accuses the three of “using Internet sites such as Facebook and Twitter to post disparaging remarks about Prejean,” AP reports and “Lewis and Moakler both told Prejean not to mention God on her Miss USA application or at public events at least two months before she gave her anti-gay marriage answer.”
