Twelve contestants will compete for the title of Miss Česká 2009 on February 27. The winner will represent Czech Republic at Miss Universe 2009 pageant and the 1st Runner Up will compete at Miss Earth 2009 pageant. All I can say is "WOW!!!!!". All the girls competing are top-notch. It was really hard to decide which one is the best because I want all of them to win. Anyway I will post my Top 5, but at the end of the day I don't mind who ever win this whole competition because they're all beautiful.
1st Runner Up - Veronika Zidkova
2nd Runner Up - Klara Rychtarikova
3rd Runner Up - Iveta Lutovska
4th Runner Up - Hana Muckova

Mrs. Oregon International Pageant Workshop

In the beautiful fashion she is so known for, Tamara Wissbaum, Mrs. Oregon International 2007 welcomed the Oregon International Pageants contestants for the annual contestants workshop in her gorgeous new Portland home. Tamara and her beloved little beagle "Biscuit" (who was decked out in her rhinestone collar and leash, of course!) greeted the ladies as they arrived for the day long event.
Oregon International Pageants director Lesley Nardini (pictured) and her knowledgeable staff, Kym Wylder (Mrs. Oregon International 2000)and Sherri Potsclan, as wells as invited experts including well known fashion model Cholee Thompson and celebrity stylist and makeup artist M'chel Bauxal offered  advise, encouragement and answered questions.
For three lucky women, becoming Oregon's 2009 Teen, Miss, and Mrs. is going to the thrill of a life time!  Join us March 28th in Lake Oswego as we crown our successors!  For more information on the pageant click here: Oregon International Pageants.

National Pancake Day Alert

I just saw a TV commercial for IHOP's National Pancake Day, which raises money for CMN, with whom Miss America also has a partnership. It's this Tuesday, February 24th from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
If you are a titleholder, ED, parent, or even local contestant, I think you should contact your local IHOP immediately! See if you can be a celebrity pancake flipper or server; perhaps you could sit in the entry way and sign autographs and explain the charity. Also find out if that restaurant is getting media coverage. If so, contact that paper or station to let them know you will be there too; form a positive relationship so they will include you in this, and future events. If not, send your own press releases and follow-up, in hopes of securing your own coverage. (Click here for press release writing tips and click on the links above and CNN article below to become familiar with the rhetoric CMN and Miss America use for this event.)

Live show coming on Friday! Join Tim Kretschmann for a live internet podcast!!!

The PageantCast podcast (well, me) is travelling to Greensboro, North Carolina this Friday and we will have a live show.

Our good friend, Joy Pfister, the director of North Carolina International Pageants, is having me as Master of Ceremonies for her event this weekend. Friday, we will be broadcasting LIVE from their Red Carpet event!

The delegates will arrive on a RED Carpet at the Marriott Downtown Greensboro and the PageantCast will be broadcasting live from the event! This will be the kickoff for the 2009 North Carolina International pageant weekend and we'll be taking pictures in front of the HOLLYWOOD wall (and later today, I hope to upload those photos to our photo gallery!)

We'll be joined by the North Carolina International 2008 Queens, 2009 Delegates, Donald Latham Photography, Star Path Images Video Production, Jewels By Jill, and the North Carolina Press. It's going to be a incredible and glamourous event!

Even if you can't attend yourself, you'll be able to hear every moment LIVE from your computer, telephone, speakerphone or cell phone!

So how can you hear the live show? Afterall, our show is usually taped.

See the "Community Call" link over to the left on our website (http://www.pageantcast.com). No, further left than the picture of me with the beautiful Joy Pfister during her year as America's 30's. That will count you down to our show on February 27th at 2:00 p.m. EST! You'll find these directions on the home page as well on Friday!

We will be utilizing a service called TalkShoe and you can easily reach our little world of TalkShoe a number of different ways to hear the show live:

  1. Click on the handy dandy purple link over to the left on http://www.pageantcast.com/
  2. Simply type "http://radio.pageantcast.com/" and it will re-route to our live radio show website
  3. Don't have a computer? No worries! Dial 724-444-7444 and type in Call ID: 32623; you can listen to the show anywhere on ANY phone!

You do NOT need an account to listen to the show. Just sign in as a "guest"...it's great! If you do have an account, though, we might even put you on the air IF YOU WOULD LIKE!

Outgoing Miss Bahamas Universe: Reign was an amazing Experience

All young ladies who aspire to hold the title of Miss Bahamas should definitely enter the Miss Bahamas Universe pageant, according to reigning queen Sacha Scott.

As her reign nears its end, she told The Nassau Guardian that it was an honor and an amazing experience to represent her country — an opportunity she says not everyone gets to have.

"Not only did this give me the opportunity to learn even more about my country, but I learned more about myself as well. I learned to overcome hurdles, answer difficult questions and I made great friends. So I honestly feel that this pageant can serve as a learning experience for all who enter, even if you don't win the crown."

The University of Miami student, is also the daughter of former Miss Bahamas title holder Christina Thompson-Scott, who represented the Bahamas at the Miss Universe Pageant in 1983 said it was like a dream come true. With her win, they became the first mother/daughter to capture the Miss Bahamas crown.

Sarah Palin and the Miss America Scholarship Fund

clipped from www.usnews.com

She has touched the upper rung of American politics, but Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin hasn't forgotten what got her there. Even the more embarrassing moments. Case in point: Taking second place in the 1984 Miss Alaska Pageant, where she strutted the stage in a cherry-red, one-piece bathing suit and heels. While a bit bashful about her beauty queen past, her runner-up status made her Alaska's backup for the Miss America Pageant, qualifying her for the group's scholarship fund. The former GOP vice presidential nominee gushed about how the money gave her the start she needed.

It was during a recent Washington luncheon when Palin bumped into Georgetown businesswoman Ann Hand, the official jeweler of the contest, who contributes a portion of her Miss America Collection to the scholarship fund. "That Miss America scholarship—that's what got me through college," Hand says Palin told her. In fact, it covered most of her college years.
