Miss Georgia 2008 -- Chasity Hardman!

Chasity Crowning Chasity Headshot Big Miss Georgia 2008 is Chasity Hardman!

Chasity, a Columbus native and a 23-year-old Music Education student at Georgia State University, will travel the state sharing her platform of Developing, Reaching, and Educating through Music. She performed "Listen" from Dreamgirls for her talent.

Chasity is dynamic, articulate, talented, and sincere. She will be a fierce contender at Miss America in January 2009. (In fact, Max and I are so confident in her potential that we have already discussed making the trip to Las Vegas to cheer her on.)

SEASIDE - Danijela Krstic, Miss Tri Valley, begins her reign as Miss Oregon with one thing in her sights: the Miss America title.

My Worst List (Miss Universe 08 National Costume)

...this is from another source/remember...

1. New Zealand–this costume would have been okay, really, but it’s the pose that totally blew it up for me.

2. Venezuela-this is by the most disastrous national costume Venezuela has ever produces. FIrst, the color is is too much of an eye sore. Then those fluffy things around her, especially around the head, make her look like some strange hybrid koala.

3. USA-Whoever though looking like a giant Christmas ornament was cool. I hope this giant snowflake is made of material sturdy enough not to collapse on stage because it looks like it’s made of cardboard boxes and aluminum foil.

My Runner-Ups

I sooo not dig the aztec skirt.

And sad to say: Philippines. The color is just so wrong.

Check out my favorite national costumes here.

Beauties of America Pageant - Official Blogspot: Traci Quinones, Beauties of America’s 30s – Celebrates Valley High Elementary 5th Grade Graduation

On June 4th Valley High Elementary invited me to be a guest speaker at their Fifth Grade Graduation. This was a special day for over 80 fifth grade students as they closed the door on their elementary education and look forward to their middle school years. I still remember my fifth grade graduation (I had a great pink dress and my first pair of pink high heels...hey it was te 80's! lol), so I wanted to be sure I had something memorable to say. During my presentation I shared with them my three magic words – Aspire, Seek, and Attain. You are never too young to set a goal, work hard, and accomplish that goal. I think I even reminded a few parents how easy it is to work towards a goal. Who says Greek life in college can’t teach you something! My senior sorority sisters would be proud to know I took our motto and hopefully inspired a whole new generation. After the ceremony I joined students, parents, faculty and staff for a celebratory reception; then the kids were off for summer vacation and I was off to the office to go back to work. I miss summer vacations!

Detroit, USA - Kelly Best, Miss Michigan USA 2007 and a Miss USA 2007 semi-finalist, was named Miss International US 2008.

Direct Flights Only: Miss Universe 2008

I almost forgot that the Miss Universe pageant is just around the corner (never missed a telecast since 1997) so I thought I'd check the official website and see if there's anything interesting.

I'd like to generate additional publicity for some delegates by featuring them on my blog.

Philippines (Home Country)

Singapore (Current & Future Country of Residence)

Japan (Country of Last Year's Winner)

Vietnam (Pageant Host Country - likely to make it due to homecrowd advantage)

Other Countries that usually do well in the preliminary round and land in the semifinals.

India

Venezuela

Singapore's national costume drew some interest when it was first shown to the public several weeks ago (Merlion-inspired)

Beauties of America Pageant - Official Blogspot: Traci Quinones, Beauties of America’s 30s – Spends the Day with the US Army at Fort Sam Houston

On June 6th I had the special opportunity to spend the afternoon on the military base of Fort Sam Houston. Myself and several of my pageant sisters enjoyed lunch in the commissary and then we were off to meet and greet the men and women of the US Army. It’s during this time that we thank them for their bravery, skills, heart and soul for defending our country. Without these special individuals we would not have the safety, security and freedom we all enjoy as American citizens. During our visit we also got to experience and see the actual training the soldiers receive. We took off our pageant sashes, laid low on the ground and learned how to fire an M16A2 rifle in a virtual reality firing center! The feel, weight and firing of the rifles were so real except there were no bullets. We experienced the actual training US Army Soldiers receive including real life scenarios within the virtual reality center that train US Army Soldiers to evaluate the situation and the enemy; and know when and where to fire their weapons. This experience was a dose of reality for me; and very eye opening to what our troops experience daily on the battle front. Our next stop was the medical battalion training center. We felt like we were in a different world as we walked through a mock up of a Middle Eastern market square that had just been attacked by a car bomb. Victims/medical training mannequins lay wounded on the ground waiting for the medical attention of a soldier. The mannequins would breathe, bleed and react according the actions of the soldier treating them! It was all so amazing!

I encourage everyone to take the time to thank our military and get to know force that protects our country.

Beauties of America Pageant - Official Blogspot: Traci Quinones, Beauties of America’s 30s – Humane Society Cat Crawl Event

June 7th was a day for the CATS! The Bexar County Humane Society held a Cat Crawl showcasing all their adoptable cats and kittens. As we all know two cats are always better than one; so they had a special two for one cat and kitten adoptions! Dog and puppies were also available for adoption, but the cats ruled this event! It was so exciting to see people come out in search of their next family member. I had a great time with WOAI Radio Celebrity Bill Rhode and Humane Society Director of Public Relations Cathy McCoy. I also received great information on how to continue helping the homeless animals in the city of San Antonio, becoming a Humane Society volunteer and I am considering being a foster family for newborn kittens. My house is already the CAT House of the neighborhood…literally. We have my kitties and rescue kittens living with us. I love animals and so does my fiancée; it makes me happy having them around our home. I encourage everyone to consider adding a new member to your family – pets are waiting for you at your local shelter!

Angela's Adventures: The Red River Valley Fair

I was given the opportunity to promote the Avon Speak Out Campaign at the Red River Valley Fair on Saturday June 14 and Sunday June 15.

Saturday was busy busy busy I spent the entire time speaking to people and sharing information about both domestic violence and Go Red for Women. It was wonderful!! I love being blessed with opportunities to help others and I am hoping that some of the information I was able to share will in turn bless the lives of others.
Because I was so busy speaking with people I didn't even think to take my camera out and take a picture or two until I went to return my crown to its case.
So the only picture I have to show for Saturday is this one of me with the wonderful Avon reps Karen, Mary Avon booth.
