FASHION ROCKS PRODUCER AND AMERICAN IDOL DIRECTOR TAPPED TO CREATE 2008 MISS AMERICA LIVE! FOR TLC 2008 MISS AMERICA LIVE! Event Airs Saturday, January 26, on TLC LOS ANGELES, CA and ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – October 22, 2007 – TLC has teamed Grammy Award-winning producer Anthony Eaton and Emmy Award-winning director Bruce Gowers to helm the all-new 2008 MISS AMERICA LIVE! event, the stunning conclusion to TLC’s Miss America reality series. In its first year on TLC, the show will air live from Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas on Saturday, January 26 from 8-10 PM ET/PT (tape-delayed). The announcement was made today by Brant Pinvidic, senior vice president of programming for TLC. “We are thrilled to have two of the best talents in the business working on this landmark television special,” said Pinvidic. “They share our creative vision for reinventing this American classic and combining their innovative styles will yield an incredible live event.” Sam Haskell, III the Miss America Organization’s Chairman of the Board remarked upon Eaton’s award winning experience and cutting-edge style. “We have reinvigorated the Miss America brand and are delighted to have TLC as our new television partner to debut MISS AMERICA LIVE! on their network,” he said. “With the combined efforts of TLC and my friends, Tony Eaton and Bruce Gowers, we are confident that our 87-year tradition will be presented in a completely innovative and unprecedented manner.” As produced by Eaton and directed by Gowers, the 2008 MISS AMERICA LIVE! is a new kind of competition. Designed to find the smartest, most talented and most stylish woman from among the 52 finalists, the 2008 Miss America will truly define a trend-setting modern American woman. To see how the competition will be enhanced, and get to know each contestant as she pursues the crown, viewers can watch TLC's MISS AMERICA companion reality series that culminates with the MISS AMERICA LIVE! finale. Anthony Eaton is the head of Tall Pony Productions, the genius behind major network specials like “Fashion Rocks,” “Tsunami Aid: A Concert of Hope,” and “The 6th Annual Radio Music Awards.” His long roster of television credits include “David Bowie: Serious Moonlight,” and “Tim McGraw: Reflected,” among others. He has worked with such stars as Usher, Madonna, Janet Jackson and Cher on their DVD endeavors. Eaton is the beneficiary of several awards, including three Grammy Awards and two NAACP Image Awards, among others. A two-time Emmy Award® recipient, Gowers, who is best known for directing the FOX hit “American Idol,” relocated to the US in the late 1970’s after garnering international acclaim for the landmark “Bohemian Rhapsody” video for Queen. His directing credits include television shows such as “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Celebrity Duets.” He has directed numerous awards shows, including “The Primetime Emmy Awards” and specials for artists including Prince, The Rolling Stones and others. Gowers is the recipient of a Directors Guild of America award, multiple ACE and Monitor Awards and an NAACP Image Award, among others.

On September 28th I participated in the Annual Comal County Fair parade in New Braunfels, Texas. It was a beautiful afternoon and the crown shined like a gem in the sun light! We had so much fun we were ready to do it all over again at the end!

In September Harley Davidson and country legend George Strait hosted a silent and live auction to benefit local San Antonio charities. As a special guest I was able to help greet guests and help with the silent auction. It was a great night full of fun, music and motorcycles!

Beauties of America's 30s - Cibolo Nature Center Appearance

Cibolo Nature Center Gala

On October 13th I was invited by the Cibolo Nature Center in Boerne, Texas to help with their annual gala. My job was to help greet guests and persuade them to buy raffle tickets that benefited their scholarship program. I am proud to say I sold over $1200 in tickets :) Many of the guests asked about the Beauties of America pageant, so it was a great PR night for us too!

Miss America 2007 joins Tallahassee Mayor John Marks in proclaiming October 23 National Cyber Security Awareness Day OCTOBER 22, 2007 | TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- As part of National Cyber Security Awareness Month, Tallahassee Mayor John Marks will declare October 23 National Cyber Security Awareness Day in Tallahassee at Florida State University in Miller Hall starting at 12:30 pm EST. The event will help raise awareness for cyber security and provide students and families with ways they can better protect themselves and their families from a variety of online threats. To honor this day and help students and residents better secure their computers, Symantec will give away free copies of Norton 360, Symantec's all-in-one security solution.* Symantec, Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson, Mayor John Marks, (ISC)2, and NCSA will discuss their efforts to educate the public and provide Internet users with cyber safety and security tips they can use to keep themselves and their families safe online. This event is part of a multi-city, localized effort to promote National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM).

On October 23rd I attended a private concert for KJ*97 listeners and specials guests starring new country artist Half Way to Hazard.


Halfway to Hazard, featuring Chad Warrix and David Tolliver, is no-holds barred, nothing held back, pedal to metal, all the way. It is music that is honest, open, gritty and rough around the edges by musicians who make no excuses for who they are or apologies for where they’re from. They’re Halfway to Hazard, and they’re taking the long way home.


The music was fantastic - its country with a little touch of rock and roll...I like that! David and Chad were too cute! I had a great time with them.

HANOI, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Thirty candidates of Miss Earth 2007 pageant will come to Vietnam from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1 in a special session of the international beauty contest, local newspaper Labor reported Monday.

The candidates will vie for five awards: Miss Fashion, Miss Charm, Best in Ao Dai (Vietnam's traditional long dress), Miss Fitness and Miss Beauty for a Cause in the country's central Nha Trang city. The first four awards will be announced and granted to winners in the sea city.

The award Miss Beauty for a Cause will be announced at the final night of Miss Earth 2007 pageant in Manila, the Philippines on Nov. 11.

One of judges of the special session is Miss Earth 2006 Hil Yesenia Hernandez, who, along with Miss Earth-Water 2006 Catherine Untalan and Miss Earth-Singapore 2007 Nicole Chen Lim, attended an international travel exposition in Vietnam's southern Ho Chi Minh City early this month.

Collection To Debut During Live Broadcast on TLC
Saturday, January 26 at Planet Hollywood

Winnwear Designer Swimwear, a swimsuit company founded by former Miss America contestant Sueanne Winn, has been named the official swimwear sponsor of Miss America Live! for 2008. Winn’s designs, which feature European fabrics and a custom fit, will make a cool splash with the 52 Miss America contestants during the live broadcast of this year’s show from the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, January 26, 2008 on TLC.

Winnwear founder and CEO Sueanne Winn expressed her enthusiasm at being named Miss America’s swimwear partner. “As a former contestant myself, I know from personal experience how the Miss America Pageant can make dreams come true,” said Winn. “In addition to showcasing our swimwear collection, Winnwear will donate to the Miss America scholarship program to help talented young women achieve their personal and professional goals.”

Breaking News: Chinese representative in the recently concluded Miss International 2007 has been called "ugly inside and out" after she wore a fur coat during the Evening Gown portion. This results to an appeal to boycott the 2008 Olympics which will be held in China. Read story HERE.
